Most Influential People

CNBC's Mad Money wants YOU to vote JIM CRAMER as one of the 2009 Time 100 Most Influential! First, it is only March so perhaps it is a little early to call the most influential people of the year... But is Cramer really influential? Especially after the beatdown he took from Jon Stewart (I bet he gets some votes!)? Cramer is kind of a crapshoot because given the amount of advice he provides he is either a genius or an idiot depending on which ideas investors choose to act on. This may turn out to be more of a popularity contest seeing as The Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus are getting plenty of votes. Perhaps we should include the Pirates that are stealing ships while we're at it.

But on the finance side, who really deserves the honor? Notable candidates on the list include:

  • Lloyd Blankfein, CEO of Goldman Sachs (GS)
  • Warren Buffett, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway (BRK)
  • Ben Bernanke, Federal Reserve Chairman
  • Nouriel Roubini, Professor, "Dr Doom"
  • Timothy Geithner, Secretary of the Treasury
  • Jamie Dimon, CEO of JP Morgan (JPM)
  • Meredith Whitney, Financial Analyst
  • Sheila Bair, Head of the FDIC
  • Ken Lewis, CEO of Bank of America (BAC)
  • Charlie Gasparino, CNBC Reporter

Possible people that may have got missed from the world of Finance:
  • Nassim Taleb, author of "Black Swan"
  • John Paulson, hedge fund manager
  • Alan Greenspan, former Federal Reserve Chief, hey his actions are STILL influencing our current economic environment
  • Barney Frank, Democratic Congressman
  • Peter Schiff, President of Euro Pacific Capital
  • AIG Financial Products Division
  • Steve Schwarzman, CEO of Blackstone
  • Robert Schiller, Yale Professor, author

I can't even recall if Andrew Cuomo made the list - he is the Attorney General of New York. Perhaps one of the top hedge fund earners should get a mention?

Can I write in Dilbert? He's a genius.
